The large plantations of empeltre, arbequina and picual olive trees generate large quantities of olives in Majorca to produce coupage extra virgin olive oil from the highest quality olives.

The level of specialization of the producers of olive oil in Majorca is such, that today this oil is protected and at the same time has been awarded the Appellation of Origin: Oli de Mallorca.

In the 13th century this delectable oil was already exported to other ports of the Mediterranean Sea.

Majorcan sausages

Majorcan sobrassada is made from paprika, lean pork, bacon, salt and spices. It is the best-known sausage on the island and can be bought at any local delicatessen or butcher.

There is historical evidence that sobrassada was already produced in Majorca in the 16th century, and today it is protected with the geographical indication seal.
